- New KOK book on trafficking in women in Germany
KOK just published an updated reprint of the brochure “Frauenhandeln” [Trafficking in women/women in action] that was first published by KOKe.V. in 2001. It provides an overview of the issues surrounding trafficking in women and highlights both the legal framework conditions of the various forms of trafficking in women as well as the practical experiences and expertise of the specialised counselling centres.
It had become necessary to update the brochure because the issues surrounding the trafficking in women have undergone significant changes since it was first published, both on the national and the international level. Aside from legal changes, also the societal and political discussions relating to trafficking in women have expanded. The federal and international network has been built-upon and cooperations between the various German stakeholders, particularly the specialised counselling centres and the police have now been established in almost all German federal states within the context of cooperation concepts. This reprint takes into consideration all political and societal developments that have taken place since its first publication in 2001.
